  3. Subject: Adjustments for the FT-90R Radio.

  9. Problem:  Radio deviation is to hot out of the box, about 7K.
  10.     The narrow setting to low.
  11.  
  12. Fix:  The settings are software settable.
  13.  
  14. Procedure:  Enter alignment mode by turning the transceiver off.  Short 
  15. pins 1 & 6 of the mic jack to pin 4 ground.  While pins are shorted turn 
  16. on radio.  Remove connections keeping the radio on.  You are now in the]
  17. alignment mode.

  19. Once in alignment mode press the < or > buttons  on the panel to change 
  20. the menu settings.  These are what you are adjusting.

  22. Each alignment setting is changed by adjusting the "tuning dial"
  23. Once each adjustment is made pressing in on the dial or pushing on the 
  24. VFO/Memory button on the mic will lock the setting.  This locks the 
  25. setting and does not exit out of the alignment mode.

  27. To exit out of the alignment mode press in the DISP/ss button.
  28. Once in alignment mode press the < or > buttons  on the panel to change 
  29. the settings.

  31. Deviation set by navigating to the MOD menu ( < or > buttons).
  32. Using a service monitor observe the deviation while talking into the
  33. mic, adjust by Turing the tuning dial up or down, set to 4.2K.  This 
  34. allows for the .6K PL tone when it is turned on.  Do not set the 
  35. deviation with any tones on !   Save setting by pushing in on the 
  36. tuning dial.

  38. You can go onto other setting changes  ( < or >) or exit by pressing 
  39. the DISP button.

  41. NOTE: PL setting is set by a fixed resistor inside the radio and it 
  42. is a SMD part.  Just incase anyone wants to change it.  Get a service
  43. manual and good luck.

  45. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE CHANGING AND WRITE THE FACTORY SETTINGS
  46. DOWN BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANY OF THESE.  IN DOUBT LET THEM ALONE !
